How it could it be possible that a government run program would somehow NOT do all the things that were promised? I know for a fact that every program the government runs perfect! They are always well thought out and always end up making our lives better. Whoever wrote this story must be associated with George Bush!

The government needs to notify these people who bought trucks like this that their taxes for the coming year will be increased by the same amount as the rebate they got on their NEW gas-guzzler...

Thats why people who weren't supposed to get H1N1 shots in California, were able to get them (right under the noses of the government observers). Thats also why people are able to get away with voting 2 or 3 times in the same election. Or why execs from companies who received government bail outs were still able to collect huge bonuses, while the government sat back and let it happen, all the while pretending they were providing oversight.
Because of this history of mismanagement, why should we trust they can ever get it right?

Not one autoworker job was saved by this huge expenditure of tax money. .......but I did get a great savings on a Hummer by trading in an old rusted out Dodge work van I had sitting around...........Thanks Barry!
ANOTHER frickin failed program our government has made. And now those remaining used trucks on the lots, prices are thru the roof. Can not trust this government to change anything for the better. Wake up people. Our congress CANNOT get the right type of change we truly need. They FAILED and will continue, till thrown out, 2010 is to far out.
Oh, boy, I'm laughing so hard just to keep from crying. This is another example of how the Washington elite spend our tax money. Here in Texas most of the people I spoke with or heard about who took the cash for clunker deal did indeed get new pickups or new crossover SUVs like the terrific Ford Escape or the Honda CRV. What did they expect in Disneyland East? Now the questions are do we want more of this kind of goofy reasoning as in our health care? Or do we want a return to saneness? Do you liberals now see why the tea parties were so successful?
I'm so glad the money I work so hard for to send to Washington to pay my fair share of taxes went to buy people new cars. Where's my freggin new car? I'm also so glad that I'm trading hours of my life in order to earn money to send to Washington to buy people new houses, and I don't even qualify because I make too much $%#@&^% money. What a great program! I traded in my 25 year old Ford Van for a Honda Fit that gets TWICE the gas mileage. Was sad to see to let the ole Van go though.

Other than the handful of cases where swaps ended up with lower mpg, I'm not seeing much of an issue here. All others got at least a little bit better mileage.
Can you imagine the Sh*t Storm if the program excluded ranchers and farmers from trading pickups for pickups? No where in this article does the writer talk about reduced pollutants, either.
As a taxpayer, I'd rather have a new F150 on the road than one with a bunch of blown valves spewing exhaust out the pipe.

Po Zest if you paid taxes you would be upset also. Michael OC 1,000's of jobs were not saved by this and the stocks were replenished which delayed some jobs being reduced at what cost? Over 3 billion dollars. Tax payer dollars.

This program was a failure. The majority of those who purchased vehicles would have done so anyway in the near future. The only difference would have been the absence of all of us paying for it.
Since we learned well from this lesson, I am sure the government medical program is well thought out too. Boy am I looking forward to paying for it. Guess it is time to bend over some more for our prez!
