Senate acts to extend aid for jobless, homebuyers (AP)

AP - Recognizing that a weak economy still needs a government boost, the Senate voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to provide the jobless with up to 20 weeks in additional unemployment benefits and expand a first-time homebuyer tax credit to include a far larger pool of people entering the dormant housing market. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

Too bad Republican obstructionists allowed another 200,000 to lose their benefits. Apparently, their shame overcame their partisanship.

Thank God. It's about time the unemployment insurance benefit was extended. People are really hurting out there. Now lets go and create jobs so America can get back to work.

I have a friend who has been on unemployment for over 12 months now. And is receiving more than he would if he got a job in todays market. Think he's looking very hard?

This is nothing but using taxpayer's money to keep the true state of the economy downplayed, and to keep the natives from getting to restless until they have finished putting their police state in place.

They would make Hitler proud.

The tax credit still won't help those who need it. My own family bought a house last July, under George Jr's tax incentive, I didn't qualify. Now under the Obama administration, I still don't qualify. The bill passed won't help those who were promised the stimulus and then never received it at all. These "stimulus" packages don't reach those who really require the help, and helps those who don't require it at all. The stimulus package gave me 18 dollars more a week, eaten by the over inflated fuel prices. What good did it do?

Congressman John Fleming has proposed an amendment that would require Congressmen and Senators to take the same health care plan that they would force on us. (Under proposed legislation they are exempt.)

Now if the Repugnants dominated Congress and were in the White House, Congress would be voting to give construction companies created overnight by former US military officers no bid contracts to build homeless shelters all across America.

And a hundred new prisons.

That's the GOP's idea of aiding the citizens of the United States.

Bush's 2008 Economic Stimulus Package included new home owner funding as did Obama's in 2009.

The difference?

The Bushwipes' made you pay back the $8K the government gave you as a first time home buyer.

I laugh my ass off thinking about the Republican slobs who took the first time Bushwipe home buyer credit from the 2008 package knowing that disqualified them from receiving the 2009 Obama tax credit which did not require repayment because they were no longer first time home buyers.

Again, that's the difference between Republican aid to American and Democratic aid to Americans.

The Administration 1of 3: All this co-rumination of campaign-nomics by the Administration and its cronies, who have accomplished nothing in 10 months, is not linking in Generation-X, Generation-Y or any other fully-engagable generation. These self-proclaimed instapreneurs need to perform a brain dump on due diligence to get a game changer from the low hanging fruit before the nobel-mentum runs out. In the run up to the ten-thousand foot view, it seems they’re ignoring the heavy lifting, but leveraging the future to grow the macro picture. Most circles would agree, instead of being dazzled by brilliance, we are being baffled by virtualization bullsh*t. A platform that is more goal oriented and better integrates team dynamics would provide ample face time, and cure this bad case of brickor mortis.

Hey Repugs, I bumped into a uniform Omaha Police Division officer in the Men's Room at my father's rental property today.

How's the rape cover up of the mothers of fire fighters, law enforcement officers, and my own mother going in Omaha, Nebraska, these days?

The Administration 2of 3: A sense check is on the radar screen as the desired paradigm shift that has too many buckets that push the envelope may not pan out at the end of the day, a little of everything and lots of nothing, Pseudo-Change nobody needs. With more lean & mean, but still proactive processes in place, the Administration could stop this smash & grab approach and instead come up with more solutions at the water cooler games. So far they’ve thrown it against the wall to see if it sticks, and it ain’t stickin’. To move the goal posts, management and its skill sets better change to a world-class customer-centric knowledgeable team. If not, the baton will be passed in 2010, and again in 2012. The current bandwidth is giving less people every day the warm and fuzzies and most Americans feel caught in the eddies.

The Administration 3of 3: The report card is sounding bells and whistles that are telling us that we are continuing to be subprimed like an ACORN approved brothel. When John Q. Public peels back the onion and finds the high risk low yield approach still downsizing and reducing global presence, it’s looks like another staycation. The government is not a tactical, streamlined, golden thread of connectivity to best practices. The current platform is a dog and pony show, and proves dysfunctional upon more detailed analysis. The mission critical game plan should be to break through the clutter. At day’s end, the voice of the customer will ring clear as a bell if the deliverables have gone that extra mile. It is what it is. Do more with less, restructure the economy and map out the empowerment. That’s my two-cents. Run it up the flagpole. Vote in 2010!

The US Congress works hard to help the wealthiest while guaranteeing the poverty of the mass of Americans. Republicans wish to offer a change ... but they're stuck on the "merits" of the Bush Regime ... Lord help us all!

Nice we can give away all this money. As a senior on social security we will not receive a COLA raise this year because the rate of inflation hasn't gone up. Well, let me tell you; when gas prices were their highest the cost of groceries went up to cover the transportation cost. Well prices of gas are down but have you seen anything in the stores that has dramatically dropped in price? I don't think so; therefore, with no COLA this coming year I am basically taking a pay cut.

What happens when the 14 more weeks run out?
GM is laying off 10,000 more people.
This government doesn't give a rats ass about whether you have employment or not or they would be doing something about it.
Tell your Senators to get up off their lazy asses and help the people of their state or get rid of them.
A newbie would be better than what they are doing.

With one million people out of work and about to run out of benefits they better extend those benefits because I am afraid if they dont you will definately see a rise in the crime rate and it will definately will end up with a revolt by the people on the steps of the capitol building. The people of this country will not take much more of this crap. Obama better get the message soon or he will find himself on the way out in 2012.

1st. I am glad they finally passed this bill, now the number of people who are losing their benefits should be happy. 2nd. To those who are blaming Obama for this crisis, you people really need to watch the news about companies laying off, restructuring or going bankrupt. As a matter of fact, Johnson and Johnson decided to restructure yesterday and cut 6-7 percent of their workforce, they say it's because of the health care plan but I think they just needed an excuse, I got laid off back in April of this year from an Automotive Factory, because the orders were down, because people weren't buying cars as much, now I know someone who doesn't think would blame Obama for this but please tell me, what does Obama have to do with this.

3rd. There are some people who say that this bill will hurt the economy, but seriously get real people, if the unemployed loses their checks don't you think they won't have the money to buy anything, and if they don't spend money somewhere guess what, more jobs losses because companies not making profit. 4th and last, for those who judge people who are unemployed and say they don't deserve a check, well lets wait until you get laid off and see what you do. I can certainly tell you that if you get laid off and go file for unemployment you are a HYPOCRITE, that right I said HYPOCRITE

What a joke! Nothing like putting a band-aid over a gunshot wound! I like how everyone gets bailed out except the working class american people! I dont see the STIMULUS doing anything to create jobs to get people off of unemployment! As a matter of FACT i am still seeing companies closing their doors around where i live! My job of 12 years is hanging by a thread! When i have to sign up at least i know i have an extra 20 weeks! My government is truly looking out for me!

Furthermore, those who are judging the unemployed and think they shouldn't get a unemployment check, I personally challenge each and everyone of you to take your opinion to your workforce development department in your state, state your opinion sign your name, address etc. I can almost guarantee you that the majority of people who are saying the unemployed shouldn't get a unemployment check, won't even do that.
